چکیده
RF photoinjectors have been under development for several decades to provide the high-brightness electron beams required X-ray Free Electron Lasers. This paper proposes a photoinjector design that meets Horizon 2020 CompactLight study requirements. It consists of 5.6-cell, X-band (12 GHz) gun, an emittance-compensating solenoid and two traveling-wave structures accelerate beam out space-charge-dominated regime. The gun is intended operate with cathode gradient 200 MV/m, TW at 65 MV/m. shape cavity cells was optimized reduce peak electric surface field. An assessment breakdown likelihood presented as multipacting analysis coaxial coupler. pulse heating on inner surfaces also evaluated dynamics simulations 100 MeV are summarized.

X-band Photoinjector Beam Dynamics*
SLAC is studying the feasibility of using an X-band RF photocathode gun to produce low emittance bunches for applications such as a mono-energetic MeV γ ray source (in collaboration with LLNL) and a photoinjector for a compact FEL. Beam dynamics studies are being done for a configuration consisting of a 5.5-cell X-band gun followed by several 53-cell high-gradient X-band accelerator structures....

A Plane-Wave-Transformer (PWT), integrated photoinjector operating at an X-band frequency (8.547GHz) is being developed by DULY Research Inc. in a DOE SBIR project, in collaboration with UCLA and UCD/ILSA. Upward frequency scaling from an S-band PWT photoinjector would result in a compact photoinjector with unprecedented brightness. Challenging technological innovations are required at X-band. ...

We report detailed experimental results on an X-band (8.547 GHz) rf photoinjector, currently being commissioned at UC Davis on the LLNL site. The device operates with an average accelerating gradient in the 50100 MeV/m range, and produces relativistic (1.5-2 MeV) photoelectron bunches, with a measured relative energy spread < 1.8%, at the resolution limit of our energy spectrometer. The measure...
متن کاملRF Design of the UCLA/INFN Hybrid SW/TW Photoinjector
With increasing demand for high brightness, low emittance beams for use with freeelectron lasers, Compton scattering systems and wake-field accelerator experiments, stringent requirements have been placed on the design and operation of the 1.6 cell photoinjector. The proposed hybrid photoinjector combines the BNL/UCLA/SLAC style 1.5/1.6 cell standing wave gun with a traveling wave accelerator. ...

As part of a National Cancer Institute contract to develop a compact source of monoenergetic X-rays via Compton backscattering, we have completed the design and construction of a 5.5 cell Photoinjector operating at 11.424 GHz. Successful completion of this project will result in the capability of generating a monoenergetic Xray beam, continuously tunable from 20 85 KeV. The immediate goal is th...
